Location: Constant Avenue at Irving Hill Road, southeast corner, west of Iowa Street on the west campus
First known burial: April 22, 1855
Last recorded burial: September 23, 1882
Mass burials: April to June 1862 – eighteen members of the 13th Wisconsin Infantry
who died of typhoid fever on their way to fight the Civil War
Most victims of Quantrill’s Raid on August 21, 1863; many bodies were reburied
in Oak Hill Cemetery after 1865; at least five remain
Deeded to KU Endowment Association: May 26, 1953
Current interment policy: Ashes of University personnel, graduates, and friends may be buried in urns under flat headstones following approval from the KU Endowment Association
